Here is a mystery. An M40 single decal Luftwaffe helmet that looks to have been "upgraded". The helmet appears have a national decal added in paint on the other side of the helmet as it rises a bit on the surface of the helmet..Yet the painted shield shows crackling and shrinkage in the surface. So, was the original decal damaged and repainted? It also has nice remnants of camouflage paint and has been heavily varnished or lacquered. Inside named. If all correct, a $3,000 helmet. A hell of a nice display piece.
